The Dalby Farm Experience is an interactive learning program
for children ages K-7 grade. Our farm provides an ideal environment
for children to 'experience' learning through hands-on farm and
nature activities, games and crafts.
The Dalby Farm Experience offers a different theme every day.
The presentation, activities, crafts and stories often are designed
to reinforce and coincide with the presented subject matter so
that the child has fun while learning. On the last day of the
session, we have ‘Family Picnic Day’ where the participants’
families are invited to visit the farm; each child is encouraged
to show them what they have learned as well as introduce them
to the animals on the farm.
Children will enter a world of discovery and through this, will
learn to appreciate the value of conservation and preservation
of nature's wonders and all that our world has to offer. It is
Dalby Farm's hope that each participant of the program will leave
with an increased knowledge and understanding of plants and animals.
Our role is not necessarily growing crops and animals but rather
raising awareness of the critical role that nature plays in our
world.
The 'Experience' is offered to children entering grades
K-7 . The program is divided into groups by grade levels and is
offered, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
2012 dates
Monday, July 23rd - Thursday, July 26th
Monday, July 30th - Thursday, August 2nd
Join us at Dalby Farm for exciting, fun-filled days
of nature and animal discovery. Learn to appreciate the importance
of conservation and preservation through hands-on activities.
Explorer (K, 1st, 2nd) Learn
about farm animals and their habitats and explore them through
your senses. Hear the rooster crow and feel the softness of sheep's
wool.
Discoverer (3rd, 4th) Do you know
how the Egyptians used pigs to plant their crops? Learn about
farm animals and nature, discover their role on the farm and their
importance in our everyday life.
Caregiver (5th, 6th, 7th) Join
in and learn about the ways of, care and upkeep of the animals
on the farm. Find out how to recognize poison ivy plants and see
how to trim a goat's hoof.
Program Fee: $240.00 per session
per child. Each program participant should bring along a boxed
lunch and drink. Or, if you prefer, chilled beverages are available
for purchase. We will provide a drink and a morning snack for
each participant.
Extended Day: Ask us for our rates
if you need additional coverage. Pre-registration is required.
Please note: The majority of 'The Experience' takes
place outside and each program participant will partake in outdoor
activities, walk on wooded trails and will have contact with farm
animals. The Experience will be held rain or shine. In the event
of inclement weather, program participants should bring appropriate
outerwear. Children should bring a bathing suit and towel, as
water games may be part of the day’s activities.
